PSHE & Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)

At Cheam Fields, we value and nurture every child as an individual and aim to create a happy, supportive and safe environment in which children learn, thrive and grow. Through the teaching of Jigsaw and RSE lessons, children are able to express their emotions and feelings, by developing the knowledge, skills and attributes children need to protect and enhance their wellbeing. Children will also be able to understand that everyone is different, recognise the uniqueness of individual learners and have a greater awareness of the cultural capital around them.

Our children are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities and experiences across and beyond the curriculum, contributing fully to the life of the school and community. In doing so they learn to recognise their own worth, work well with others and become increasingly responsible for their own learning. They reflect on their experiences and understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the  moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.They learn to understand and respect our common humanity; diversity and differences so that they can go on to form the effective, fulfilling relationships that are an essential part of life and learning.

In our school we choose to deliver Personal, Social, Health Education using Jigsaw, the mindful approach to PSHE.

Jigsaw Intent: Jigsaw holds children at its heart, and its cohesive vision helps children understand and value how they fit into and contribute to the world. With strong emphasis on emotional literacy, building resilience and nurturing mental and physical health, Jigsaw 3-11 properly equips schools to deliver engaging and relevant PSHE within a whole-school approach. Jigsaw lessons also include mindfulness allowing children to advance their emotional awareness, concentration, focus and self-regulation.
