PSHE & Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)

At Cheam Fields, we value and nurture every child as an individual and aim to create a happy, supportive and safe environment in which children learn, thrive and grow. Through the teaching of Jigsaw and RSE lessons, children are able to express their emotions and feelings, by developing the knowledge, skills and attributes children need to protect and enhance their wellbeing.

Our curriculum teaches children respect, tolerance, empathy whilst promoting a sense of citizenship and community. We want every pupil to have high aspirations, a belief in themselves and  a realisation that anything is possible if they put their mind to it. When our pupils leave Cheam Fields, they do so with the knowledge, understanding, skills and emotions to be able to play an active, positive and successful role in today’s society. We want to provide them with the tools to navigate challenges, express themselves, and build resilience and overall ensure they are able to develop into the most social, emotional, moral, spiritual and resilient young people they can be, allowing them to thrive in an ever changing world.

In our school we choose to deliver Personal, Social, Health Education using Jigsaw, the mindful approach to PSHE.

Relationships and Sex education (RSE) is an integral part of our PSHE curriculum. Through our Relationships unit, we teach the pupils the foundations of healthy relationships, emphasising respect, consent, communication, and empathy. As an outcome our pupils learn how to form positive connections with their peers, families, and communities.
